Welcome

The aim of the project is to obtain information that can produce documentation and evidence for the most preferable of two methods used for the delivery of the baby`s shoulders during birth which causes the least vaginal and perineal damage

On the website you can read about the research project and follow the assessment of incoming data.

The project's first article has been published, thanks to Anna Aabakke.

In 2010 there were ca 27.000 Danish women who gave birth to their first child. Eighty-five per cent of these women, or ca 22,950, sustained a tear in the birth canal during the birth. According to the available literature the tears occurred during the birth of the baby`s head, though it could not be dismissed that some of the tears occurred during the assistance of the baby`s shoulders.
